Regional Training Workshop on Pro-Poor Macroeconomic Policies in Asia and the Pacific launched in Beijing


¡¡¡¡October 24 ¨C 28, 2005, the Regional Training Workshop on Pro-Poor Macroeconomic Policies in Asia and the Pacific, organized by UNDP Regional Center Colombo(RCC) and hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was launched in Beijing. The workshop aimed at promoting the understanding and practice of Pro-Poor Macroeconomic Policies. The workshop was composed of 9 modules which are: Macroeconomics of Poverty Reduction ---- Concept & Measurement; MDGs Based Macroeconomic Policies/PRSPs; Nexus Between Macroeconomic Policies, Growth, Employment, and Poverty Reduction; Emerging Issues and their Impacts on Macroeconomic Performance and Poverty Reduction; Fiscal, Monetary, Exchange Rate and Financial Policies and Poverty Reduction; Privatization Policies and Poverty Reduction; Fiscal Decentralization, Governance and Poverty Reduction; Cross Cutting Issues ---- Gender & HIV/AIDS; Trade Liberalization and Poverty Reduction. Representatives from UNDP country offices, government officials and experts of relevant areas, approximately 60 participants joined the event. Wang Guoliang, Deputy Director General of LGOPAD presented in the workshop and delivered a speech. Zhang Lei, Managing Director of IPRCC gave an opening address.
